This One's For Pop (Another Post-Father's Day Blog)

I had scanned it and uploaded it a long time ago, along with my other favorite childhood pics. I'm glad I get to use it now.

Father's Day came and went so fast. We gave Papa a bottle of his favorite wine, but the whole thing seemed so rushed, even if we did spend Saturday evening at their place. I know, it's funny. It's just that these days, I don't really get to talk to my dad all that much like I used to. I kinda miss it.

Practically all my friends know that my Dad is a great cook but the truth is he's really good at many other things. I remember growing up and bringing him everything that was broken, and he would fix it (or bring it somewhere to have it fixed! hehe). He builds stuff, paints stuff, and assembles things. He also knew a lot about animals, and nature, even before Discovery channel was available (although he's hooked on it now). My Dad took care of dogs, birds (even an eagle, according to him), and fish. He's not a diver but he...

Post-Fathers Day Blog

No time to blog these days since I'm always on borrowed time (and borrowed computer, and borrowed internet). I've been wanting to post this Fathers day photo I took last Sunday...

I made the shirt the night before, for Manu to wear "in honor of Dad". I thought I had made a total mess of it because it was hard to control the fabric paint tubes, but I guess it turned out OK-ish. Stef liked it a lot and found it sweet.

Manu's still too young to talk but I can tell how much he likes his Dad. He really knows Stef's voice. Whenever Stef comes home from work and Manu's asleep, the minute he hears his Dad so much as whisper, he suddenly wakes up and lifts his head (while lying on his tummy) to look at him then plops his head back on the mattress. We find him so cute and silly!

We love you Steffy/Daddy! You definitely rock just like what Manu's shirt says. We are so blessed to have you lead us, and take care of us. You're a wonderful father, provider, chef, and comedian (despite the hammy-ness, y...

Musings of a Mommy

I just put Manu to sleep. Fed him, but didn't get to change his diaper yet. I didn't want to bother him. Drypers seems to be a good brand anyway, and it's living up to its name because it's still pretty dry after nearly three hours.

We just came from the movies. Stef and I needed a break so badly, after our hectic trip, my week-long sickness and Manu's constant demand for attention. Whew. Being alone together, which doesn't really happen often, was a huge relief (we left Manu with his Grandma Panch for a couple of hours).

I have no idea what the point of this blog is. Maybe just wanted to "time in" since I've been absent for quite a while, perhaps more than 3 months. Summer was just too insanely hot for me to stay home--I ran to the airconditioned malls for shelter, with Manu in tow.

I've failed to blog about his milestones from as far back as the first month. He's now five months, and he seems to be learning a new trick everyday. But he sure does this a lot:

<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; " src="http://images.mishyfish.multiply.com/image/1/photos/upload/orig/SEX-cwoKCC4AADknGmw2/1.jpeg?et=TGAE%2CJ%2CJ9PqmuqWJ0B5IQg&nmid=0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5207720580516697186" border="0" /="">Every morning, or every time h...

Watch Him Grow (and look more like me)!

Manu is now 3 months and I feel guilty for not having recorded his milestones in writing. All I have are phone pictures, videos, twitter, and an unreliable memory.

People say that babies change everyday, that they grow so fast and that I shouldn't buy too many clothes for his current size. True enough, when Manu turned 3 months, I had to bring out the clothes that were reserved for when he's much bigger. He's now the size of a 6-month-old. He's fatter than ever, too, and I feel responsible for that because I sometimes breastfeed to get on his good side (and put him to sleep) when he's cranky!

Here's Manu when he was a newborn:

At 1 month:

At 2 months:

And at 3 months:

(He has cuter 3-month-old pictures which I'll post later)

By the way I dug up an old photo of me as a baby and wanted to show the world that my son looks a lot more like me, at least for now.
6 Weeks of Manu-ness

HELLO BLOGWORLD! I'm back, after a month and more of adjusting and learning how to be a mom (looong way to go...). Despite my sleep deprivation, aching back, and sore body parts, I am happy to be a mom.

I know six weeks is a long time. I should have updated sooner, text-wise. Pictures say a thousand words but there's a lot that happens in between. Here's a glimpse of six weeks ago (as far as I can remember how things happened...)

Thursday December 20
38 weeks pregnant

We go see my doctor in her clinic in Rockwell. We're all packed and ready to go to the hospital in case she gives the go signal for induction. She does an IE and says it's only 1 or 1-2 cm (I can't remember). We discuss it and come to a decision to have an induction, to avoid a possible C-section delivery, which is likely to happen if I wait for my real due date, December 31.

Stef and I spend the rest of the day at Powerplant, bumping into some friends, including an old carpool mate from college. Needless details. Hehe. A...

How having a baby changes you

I came across this article in Babycenter.Com entitled: "Thirty things that change when you have a baby" by mom and writer Rebecca Woolf. Here are some of her observations on becoming a new parent:

You finally stop to smell the roses, because your baby is in your arms.

Where you once believed you were fearless, you now find yourself afraid.

The sacrifices you thought you made to have a child no longer seem like sacrifices.

You respect your body ... finally.

You respect your parents and love them in a new way.

You find that your baby's pain feels much worse than your own.

You believe once again in the things you believed in as a child.

You lose touch with the people in your life whom you should have banished years ago.

Your heart breaks much more easily.

You think of someone else 234,836,178,976 times a day.

Every day is a surprise.

Bodily functions are no longer repulsive. In fact, they please you. (Hooray for poop!)

You look at your baby in the mirror instead of yourself.

You become a morning pers...

Ouchhhh!!

I was supposed to entitle this, "The Aches and Pains of Mommyhood" but I decided that I wasn't going to focus on aches and pains and associate them with being a mother. Does that make sense? Oh well.

This blog is entitled "Ouchhh!!" because I just have to express how it is right now... Yes, I'm in the stage of pregnancy that everyone told me about, and it's true! It is hard. Maybe some don't find it as hard, maybe it's even worse for some. I'm thankful I never had to go through vomiting and all that stuff they say is normal in pregnancy. The first and second trimesters were a walk in the park (just a bit of nausea, being picky with food, and getting tired a lot). Towards the end of my sixth month, my belly started to feel as heavy as a bowling ball (the uh, medium-sized one). And Seth has started to become really active, and I literally scream 'OUCH' whenever he kicks me on the left side where I'm really sensitive. According to my OB, the bulk of Mr. Baby is on my left side, and the pa...
